Student Discounts in Local Businesses
Dear Chamber member NUS-USI Membership Card Discount Scheme - Helping Students and Your Business I write on behalf of the National Union of Students UK and the Union of Students in Ireland (NUS-USI) inviting your business to take part in our free student discount scheme. NUS-USI is the representative body for further and higher education students in Northern Ireland. We were established in 1972 and currently represent 185,000 students in Northern Ireland. The NUS-USI discount scheme has enjoyed the support of our members and many national and local companies for over 20 years. As part of our services to students, we produce a free NUS-USI membership card for distribution by our member Students’ Unions. This card has a number of discounts attached to it. For example, last year we distributed 50,000 cards to full and part-time students in over 20 further and higher education colleges throughout Northern Ireland. The NUS-USI card allows large companies such as Abbey National, HMV, Topshop, Burger King, IBM, Currys, Tempest Stores and many other retailers to offer substantial discounts to our members. For the coming academic year, we are offering a free opportunity to local companies to become a partner in this valued student discount scheme. If your company is prepared to offer a discount of at least 10% to students in receipt of the NUS-USI membership card, we will advertise your business for free in our monthly magazine – the Voice, on our web site www.nistudents.com and in special promotional activities organised in our local Students’ Unions. If you are prepared to help out our members, we will, in return help promote your business to the lucrative student market. We would be delighted to provide further information on this unique offer and other possible advertising opportunities. These include banner advertising on our website and in student publications.
