Correct Completion Arab-British Certificates of Origin

What countries require an Arab-British Certificate of Origin?

These instructions are a generalisation of the rules. If in doubt, contact the N I Chamber of Commerce on 9024 4113. The Certificate should be typed (using carbon paper for the copies). The appropriate boxes on the certificate should be completed as follows:

SECURITY PATTERENED ORIGINAL, GREEN & BLUE COPIES

BOX 1 – CONSIGNOR
Insert the name and address of the exporter, i.e. the company who will invoice the goods overseas.

BOX 2 – CONSIGNEE
Show the FULL name and address of the overseas consignee.

BOX 3 – TRANSORT DETAILS
e.g. Sea freight, Airfreight, Road. Completion of this box is strongly recommended. If the means of transport is unknown, the term “Earliest Available Transport” is acceptable.

Box 5 – COUNTRY OF ORIGIN
Full name of country.

BOX 6 – ITEM NUMBER, MARKS, NUMBERS, DESCRIPTION OF GOODS
An adequate description must be given. The expression “Said to Contains” or “STC” must NOT be used. The name(s) and address(es) of all manufacturer(s) MUST BE SHOWN IN FULL. (Abbreviations are not acceptable). Gross and net weights in kilos must be shown in this box, or any other appropriate unit of measurements such as litreage or mitreage.

The bottom of the certificate is to be completed by the NI Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the Arab-British Chamber of Commerce. It is not to be signed by the Exporter.

RULING OFF
A horizontal line must be drawn immediately below the last entry, i.e. Box 6.

GREEN CONTROL COPY AND BLUE APPLICATION COPY
These should be carbon copies of the details typed on the original. The applicant must complete Box 8 on these copies by inserting the place and date of the signature and signing. The name of the applicant must also be shown either in type or BLOCK capitals.

If the certificate is completed & signed by an Agent, Box 9 must also be completed showing the full name and address of the Agent.

ALTERATIONS
Erasures must not be made on the certificate or the copies. Any alterations must be made by striking out the error and adding any correction necessary above or alongside. The applicant must initial such alterations.

ADDITIONAL NOTES
In order to legalise one commercial invoice, please submit three photocopies of the invoice.
